A lawyer in Britain, known for defending high-profile celebrities accused of traffic offences, has refused to help his own daughter to fight a speeding ticket as he wants her to 'understand the consequences of breaking the law'.

Nick Freeman, who is also called Mr Loophole, said that he wants his daughter Sophie, 19, to learn her lesson, Daily Mail reported Friday.

He said that though he could have found out a way to beat the fine, he decided against it to help teach her to drive safely.

Freeman told the Manchester Evening News: 'Mr Loophole the lawyer was in conflict with Mr Loophole the dad. Every fibre of my parental instinct told me that Sophie had to understand the consequences of breaking the law and that speeding can be a serious and dangerous issue.'

Freeman has helped a number of celebrities avoid driving bans, including football manager Alex Ferguson, Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson and footballer David Beckham.

The lawyer's daughter was clocked driving at 63 mph in a temporary 50 mph zone.

Sophie said: 'My dad hasn't really given me a firm telling-off yet, although I suspect that will come. I understand why he has opted not to help me and that he wants me to be a safe driver.'
